| At first sight it seems to be simply a place containing tools, machineries, colours, paint-brushes. But if you look farther, it seems to be a place full of emotions. The tools evoke the continuous search of the artist, the continuous wandering of the soul that can express itself only through the yellow, red, brown toned colours. It is an enchanting place. It is the fortress of my soul. |

The artistic lab -Francesca Russo- purposes the aim of handing down the artistic tradition of Calabrian pottery. Our artistic patrimony has very simple decorations such as the blue little flower, the little cock ( very common in Bisignano production) and the little bird considered as a mascot in Squillace, because these ceramic products were for a daily use in the rural families. Sometimes the decorations are even poorer such as the three green dots, or the glazed honey coloured pieces. Another important aim is to Keep the traditional techniques of the Calabrian ceramics unchanged. That is to say exclusive use of local clay; the conservation of the majolica technique or else the glazing of the bisque and the relative decorating with natural pigments and finally the 'engobbio' technique used a lot in the zone of Squillace (CZ). Keeping the tradition and the history does not prevent continuing a development that requires artistic innovations. |
